Monarchy Music and Mid Sussex Memories
The Heritage Lottery Fund awards money from The National Lottery to preserve the heritage of the UK and bring it to life for generations to come.
With the help of a grant from the Heritage Lottery, MSOPC put together a collection of photos of Mid Sussex over the last 90 years. They were collected together on a website, along with photos of the Queen. Volunteers Linda and Brian Dove were presented with thank you gifts for the enormous amount of work they have done on this. The dedicated website is http://www.90years.org.uk.
Jane Reid, a well know local artist, has also been very generous and allowed her drawings of Mid Sussex over the years to be included too.
At the tea (see the Queen’s 90th birthday celebratory tea page) a sample of the pictures was shown on the slide show, and on the Queen’s banner and montage, put together by MSOPC’s Chairman, Barbara Baldwin, were out on display too. These can be loaned out to schools, public authorities, and any groups interested in the Mid Sussex heritage.
For those folk in Mid Sussex that are not yet connected to the internet, a special edition newsletter was produced which gives a snapshot of what if on the website, including pictures of the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebration.
A copy of the special edition newsletter can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link below.
We are very grateful to all our funders of the MSOPC project Monarchy, Music and Mid Sussex Memories. Affinity Sutton, The Childwick Trust, The Gatwick Airport Community Trust, Mid Sussex District Council, the Burgess Hill Rotarians and the West Sussex County Council Community Initiative Fund.
