Volunteer

Apart from a very few roles, MSOPC is an organisation managed and run by volunteers, mainly aged 60+.  If you were successful in your application to join us as a volunteer, you would be joining us either as a Management Committee member or as a friend of MSOPC.  Information about of most of those already volunteering for MSOPC can be found on the Who we are page of the website.

MSOPC is an exciting charity to volunteer for: friendly and with plenty of opportunity to make a difference.    It is an organisation that has gone from being an informal group 11 years ago which met in a dining room to become a limited company and registered charity that is providing an influential voice for Mid Sussex older people and successfully connecting up with them to collect their views, reduce isolation, and provide information that could improve their lives.

MSOPC volunteer hours are variable and depend on how much time each volunteer can commit to MSOPC. Our volunteers work from home and fit their volunteering commitment to MSOPC around their other volunteer and personal commitments. All MSOPC volunteers are part of a team and as such are encouraged and supported to share a role with others.

You could become a Committee member.  Mid Sussex Older People’s Council is a local registered charity set up and run by and for older people. Its committee members are aged 60+ and on a pension.   We do not ask for exclusivity and in fact, in order to have a wide and varied knowledge base, we encourage volunteers who are also involved in other activities.  The current Committee members are actively involved in many local matters, including diabetes, dementia and transport or are part of other organisations such as  Parish Councils, local Churches, and U3A.

There are other roles available too – which do not necessitate your being part of the Management Committee.  For details of the volunteer roles currently available please click on the links below.  if you don’t find a role there that appeals to you, but you have some skills or knowledge that you would like to share with us by becoming an MSOPC volunteer, why not contact us anyway?
