VE Day 75 Weekend Celebrations 2020

On Friday, the 8th of May 2020, our country will be celebrating 75 years since V E Day. The celebrations will continue for the whole weekend.

MSOPC, with the British Legion in Lindfield, are planning celebrations. On Friday, the 8th of May we will gather at 2pm at the King Edward Hall in Lindfield until 4:30pm, where we will raise a toast at 3pm to celebrate 75 years since Winston Churchill declared World War 2 over. There will be an afternoon tea and entertainment, including singing duo ‘Anything Goes’.

We are also at the planning stage to celebrate on Saturday as well as a service at church on the Sunday. SSAFA – The Armed Forces charity, are suggesting the following:

  • The playing of ‘The Battle’s Over’
  • The nation toasts the heroes of WW2
  • The cry for peace around the world
  • Street parties in pubs & other venues
  • Services of commemoration and celebration in churches including the reading of the Tribute to the millions and the playing of ‘The Last Post’.

Please keep the weekend free so you can join us.
